Michael Spalt...L.A. Guitar Luthier
This guy,Michael Spalt/L.A. luthier,is pretty slick with innovative ideas for guitar making! He is sort of a guitar maker that uses unique/used/recycled materials, for a better term! This video give the begiiner to intermediate guitarist knowledge of how materials affects the guitars tone.Example...metal versus wood or maple versus rosewood or ebony. It's a good video for gaining knowledge of how different materials influence a guitars tone.
And i highly recommend watching all his videos. There are some rad looking guitars, with great ideas built into them....

Quick Music Fact...String Slot In Nut Is Pinching String
Quick Music Fact ...when you are having tuning problems,it may be the string is being pinched or getting hung up in the slot on the nut.A quick remedy is graphite added to the tight slot or a mixture of vaseline combined with pencil lead!

Quick Music Fact...Fixing Loose Studs
Another Quick Music Fact... if the studs have become a bit loose through wear and are causing your guitar not to stay in tune properly,a quick fix may be Teflon tape.Simply wrap the tape around the threads of each stud to create a tighter fit!

Enter To Win An Orange Dual Terror Amp Head
I just entered to win the Dual terror amp head by Orange, myself!I have always liked Orange amps, and they are all tube also. Here is the skinny on the Dual Terror amp head...
The Dual Terror is an all-tube, two-channel, 30-watt portable guitar head. It features a unique two stage preamp which has a massive tonal range using just three controls per channel. As with its smaller brother, this little amp has an amazing array of sounds on tap with its clean crunch-to-full-on-overdrive sounds...
The entry form is at Premier Guitar's site,a great site with a huge amount of info for guitarist, good luck with your entry :-)... http://www.premierguitar.com/Survey/66/survey.aspx
" Orange Amplifiers The last week has just been full of awesome reviews. A head to head battle between low wattage amps and the Tiny Terror - of course - takes the cake!"

Two Guitar Instructional Video Must Haves
There are two guitar instructional videos that come to mind that every guitarist should have in their library. They are by Eric Johnson ,"Total Electric Guitar"and Frank Gambale's "Modes No More Mystery" DVD.Both are very informative and thought out in a way to easily understand, and both have some great playing on them,by these artist.
The Eric Johnson video,"Total Electric Guitar",i think,is his first one he put out.He opens with a great performance and then gets into explaining different guitar players and their styles and the techniques used to create their sound and style. He even goes as far as combining their styles into one song,a very interesting thing to "see" and "hear"!And to me,the big plus is this.Personally i have yet to hear Eric's talent come through,in way of his released cd's,as i have on this video. His playing abilities,on this video, simply out shine the ones expressed on his released audio cd's!So... you will quickly see his enormous gifts and talents on this instructional video...
Product Description...
Here is a unique opportunity to study with one of the great electric guitarists. Eric Johnson gives a master class in advanced picking techniques for speed and accuracy, left- and right-hand muting, blues bends, pedal steel-style bends, and unique chord voicings. There is much more too, all adding up to a truly great 90-minute electric guitar lesson from the man of whom Steve Morse said, Eric Johnson is so good it's ridiculous! Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish
Now,on to Frank Gambale :-).Frank is,well, simply amazing. His sweep picking and all and his work with Chick Corea. But Frank is also gifted in teaching and getting info to the student,in a way that is easily understood and absorbed. And the DVD "Modes No More Mystery" is no exception to this.He breaks the modes down to a basic understanding, and plays them seperately against the proper chord progression.Even going so far to show the proper chord progression that works or fits with each mode! This,in itself,is a must know,to understand the modes and their place in improvising against chords.
Product Description
Frank presents a clear and easy-to-understand guide to using modes in soloing. Frank takes a subject that guitarists often find confusing and explains it in simple terms. He covers all seven major modes and demonstrates the use of each in the context of some extraordinary solo work. Intermediate to advanced. DVD special features include a tuning segment and a bonus video performance (Allan Holdsworth, Joe Pass).
So... purchase these two great guitar instructional videos and expand your playing to a whole new level. Also,it does not matter what style or styles of playing you are into, between these two excellent videos, you will be covered!

A Wealth Of Jazz Info Online...Yahoo Jazz Guitar Group
The Yahoo jazz guitar group is one of the most resourceful sites on the internet for information on playing jazz and other styles. They recently celebrated an anniversary, here is a note of it and informayion about the site.i highly recommend signing up with this group... http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/jazz_guitar/
YJGG was launched in our present format on eGroups on Sept 2, 1999
(Yahoo acquired eGroups on June 28, 2000).
The initial members came from the defunct, Jazz Guitar Dial-Up Bulletin Board and the subsequent ListServe JAZZGUITAR-L covering the years 1982-1999. Back in 1999 we were one of the few destinations for Jazz guitar players on the web, and only a handful of jazz guitarists had personal web-sites.
It is amazing to think of the technology change that has happened since our launch. There was no Blogger.com (July 2000), Wikipedia (January 2001), MySpace (August 2003), Facebook (February 2004), Youtube.com ( November 2005), Twitter (July 2006). The National Association for Jazz Education (NAJE) had not yet changed their name to International, and now they are gone (March 2009) and the RIAA had not yet filed a lawsuit against the Napster file-sharing client, on charges of copyright infringement (Dec 1999)! How things have changed!
We thank all our current 6680 members for continuing to support YJGG. Please continue to spread the word, so we remain an active and free destination for jazz guitarists.
If you are old member who has not posted in a while, drop by and say hi, it is always nice to hear from you, perhaps give us an update of your current activities and thoughts on jazz guitar:
